Saraswati, is a Sanskrit fusion word of Sara which means essence, and Sva which means one self, the fused word meaning "essence of one self", and Sarasati meaning "one who leads to essence of self knowledge". The goddess Saraswati is often depicted as a beautiful woman dressed in pure white, often seated on a white lotus, which symbolizes light, knowledge and truth. She not only embodies knowledge but also the experience of the highest reality. Her iconography is typically in white themes from dress to flowers to swan – the colour symbolizing Sattwa Guna or purity, discrimination for true knowledge, insight and wisdom.

Shubhra necklace has been inspired by the goddess Saraswati. I have hand knotted 108 ivory colored jade and aqua amazonite beads. Blue governs the THROAT chakra. Blue is the colour of the spirit and relates to self expression - speech, communication, the ability to communicate our needs and requirements; Spirit of truth and purpose.
